Hi!
Right now, all I have is pictures of Fort Picolet. If I can get
some historical information, I will post it or post links to it.
Let me know sometime if you are interested in this kind of
stuff.
Thanks.

All of the below pics were
taken at Fort Picolet
Lighthouse on April 5,
2008
The above 2 pics are the steps leading around the
point towards the fort proper.
The above 2 pics are from those steps
leading around the point to where the kids
were swimming (see Bob's page on March 8
for details).
The above 3 pics were taken after rounding the point. The first one is just a
freighter in the bay going towards Cap Haitien and the other 2 are your first
view of the fort as you round the point.
Once you get to the fort, you then have to climb a set of stairs to get into the fort itself. The
first 2 pictures are of those stairs, one before and one after climbing them. Then, you go
through the archway (3rd picture) and you see the view in the 4th picture, which provide a
second set of stairs and access to another level.
The first 2 pictures here are of the lighthouse. It didn't get explored
today but is on the agenda for the next visit. As you can see, it is not
in good shape. Haiti is poor and there is just no money for historical
restorations. The last picture is a Haitian fishing vessel taken from the
same level that the lighthouse pictures were taken.
On the second level you can view the top of the fort. I tried today, but didn't get all the way up.
This is also a level where the parapets are (2nd picture) and you can see below the parapets
(3rd picture). The last picture is a different view of the top level.
