Thanks Evelyn!  Without you, God only knows where some of these kids would
be now.

1991 - The Embargo
CHCH History

Evelyn writes about the embargo in 1991:

The embargo caused problems in getting food and gas.  We went to Ouanaminthe for the gas for the
generator.  Brother Joseph Albert was a big help there.

Webservant's note:  Joseph Albert, who died in 1998, was instrumental in bringing the
Church of Christ from the south of Haiti to the north, beginning in 1978.  As of 2006, there
are over 150 Churches of Christ in the north.  There is a small memorial to Joseph at the
    Bible School.

There was constant work to teach the children.  They had a great fear of the Voodoo witch doctors.
One child would shake with fear of Satan one minute and praise God the next.  It took all of us to
change them and know God and Jesus.

There were more problems of course, but the ministers in Cap Haitien, Altagrace, Ludovic and the
many Christians at the airport all were by my side through them all.  It was such a blessing knowing
that we were being lifted up in prayer by all of the Christians back in the US.

Another webservant's note.  Last year, while in Ft. Libertie, we went out to the ruins.  It
was here where you can actually see the Dominican Republic (DR), that Melissa Jung
pointed out to me is where Evelyn would travel by boat back and forth from the DR during
the embargo.  See the pics below.

A special thanks to Sandy Swann and Tony Hill for helping get Evelyn's scanned pics into jpeg format.
Now we have them all!
