Laughina is our newest kid. She will be 2 in October. Her father died in one of the
boats trying to get to the Bahamas to find work. Her mother is very ill and malnourished and
has no way to care for her. In fact, her mom came to the orphanage with her just 2 days ago
just asking if we could take care of her.
Laughina is lethargic and severely malnourished. Looking at the pics, she appears
chubby with baby fat. That is not chubbiness. She is puffed up from the side effects of
malnutrition. The pic below is of her lower extremities. You can see her feet and ankles
are swollen, again, from malnutrition. She has nothing except the clothes she has on her
back. They are a very poor family. She is going to needs meds and supplements for
several months. We do believe we have a sponsor for her in Ohio. However, she will most
assuredly need your prayers and concern.
Remember that this is how Alto looked when we first got him. Now he runs around here
like he has somewhere important to go (like I have a clue...maybe he does have somewhere
important to go)! He is doing great and so will Laughina.
