For now, we are back in the US. Lord willing, we return home
(Haiti) on January 17th. Please pray that we are in obedience to God's
will and that His will allows us to get back safely.
We have finished our first 4 1/2 months at the orphanage. What
have we learned? I guess the first thing we have learned is how
important the love of God is and how important people are. Yea, we
are doing without some material things but they are not even on the
radar screen. Do you have any idea how great it is to wake up one
morning and realize you are in love with 250 kids (the estimated
combined population of the orphanage and the elementary school)!
Thanks to God for His gift of love.
The fact that God has entrusted me with their spiritual growth is
indeed a large responsibility that I can't do alone. But as Paul said, I
can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Without Jesus,
I can do nothing.
One of the thing I meant to talk about last month but forgot (that
senior moment thing again) was how I try to instill upon the kids how
much God loves them. Each month, at both the morning devotional
for the primary school, the Bible study at the church primary school,
and the evening devotional at the orphanage we stop our current
study and focus on just how much God cares for them. It's very
important that they (and us too) understand that. God will always be
there for them and it's imperative that both they and all of us know
that. No matter what mistakes are made in our lives, God always
wants us back to Him.
As always, I ask for your prayers. Please pray that God's perfect
will is done in my life. Please pray that I can be God's conduit of love
for these kids.
Thanks again for everyone's support. I love each and every one
of you and am so grateful to God for putting you in my life.
